Click on Teacher Exchange Program for more details. CHF works directly with schools–not through attorneys or other third parties. The Foundation is not an employment agency. We do not represent teachers, nor place them. We do not allow foreign teachers to pay for cost of J-1 visa sponsorship, nor charge a fee for teacher referrals from our database. The Cordell Hull Foundation does not post a list of costs for participants, because we do not charge teachers. When schools work with us to sponsor teachers, we ask them to complete a Cost of Living Form informing foreign nationals of the general cost of living in their area for the first year.

In most language and Baccalaureate immersion schools, fifth-grade students get the opportunity to travel to the target country, stay with host families, and participate in classes with their counterparts, then reciprocate by hosting these students when they travel to the U.S. during the school year. Primary languages represented are French, Spanish, German, and Greek.
